Our Tour Guide: Jim Palmer, Docent, National Museum of WW II Aviation

Former Commander, 3rd Space Support Wing

Peterson Air Force Base

Opened to the public in 2012, the National Museum of World War II Aviation documents the role that military aviation played in the emergence of our nation as a world power during the Second World War. Through a combination of its aircraft collection, exhibits, interactive displays, and docent led tours, the museum tells the story of our nation’s tremendous technological advancements during the War, and describes the lasting social and economic changes that were essential to the success of the Allied war effort.

Jim will provide a private tour of museum which displays flyable World War II aircraft.  Entrance to the Museum is provided free for IEEE Pikes Peak Section Members and 1 guest (up to our capacity of 25 people).  Following our tour, we will visit the Interactive Exhibits group to their flight simulators and the Student Simulation Lab that was developed with Pikes Peak grant funding along with support from the Life Member Committee and Computer Society.

Lunch will follow at the nearby Airplane Restaurant at the members own expense.
