This part of the forum will focus on the components of the project management process and their execution.

This presentation provides the definition of project management, the five phases of a project (Conception and Initiation), Planning and Design, Launch or Execution, Monitoring and Control, and Closure and Evaluation (Lessons Learned). What is required to complete each of the phases successfully?  Managing issues and the specific documents required during the lifecycle of the project. This presentation addresses the specific requirements to achieve the project goals, and project objectives and shows the value to the client/customer/end user. The relationship between the project manager and executive management is identified. Finally, the project’s lessons learned are documented for future projects.

Project Management: An Overview

This presentation provides the definition of project management, the five phases of a project (Conception and Initiation), Planning and Design, Launch or Execution, Monitoring and Control, and Closure and Evaluation (Lessons Learned). Biography:

Julian has been a project manager for over 25 years and has a broad background that crosses multiple and various companies. Started his electrical engineering skills as a designer of PLCs, went on to manage many telecommunications projects for both upstream and downstream Oil and gas companies, became a NASA telecom contractor supporting the Space Shuttle program, was the HP IT Global Portfolio/Business Relationship Manager, and consulted as a telecom project manager for Texas New Mexico Power.

He was sent to Russia to monitor telecom and IT between the Space Shuttle and the MIR space station, Assisted in the installation of the NASA/JSC and Canadian Telecom Link for data and voice in support of the Space Shuttle Program and

Headed the split of HP into HPE and HPI companies as the global project/portfolio lead.

He has held the Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification since 2005.

Julian received his BA in math/physics from the University of Texas at Austin and a BSEE from the University of Houston.
