Tech Square Microgrid as a Living Laboratory for the GT Community
Speakers:
Collins Pratt
Senior Engineer with Georgia Power
Scott Duncan, Ph.D.
Georgia Tech ASDL Research Engineer, and SEI Initiative Lead for the Tech Square Microgrid
Abstract:
The two speakers will provide a technical overview of the Tech Square Microgrid (TSMG) and update on efforts underway to make it usable by the GT Community as a “living laboratory” for demonstration, education, research, and collaboration. This infrastructure asset is a working urban microgrid that connects to Georgia Power grids and serves electricity loads in the High-Performance Computing Center (HPCC) that is part of the CODA building complex. Collins Pratt will overview the physical microgrid and its controls, and Scott Duncan will talk about platforms and processes now in place that enable study of the microgrid by GT researchers and students. The speakers will field technical questions and encourage the airing of ideas about the use of TSMG as a living lab.
