This is a planning meeting for the Lehigh Valley WIE Affinity Group. Interested Lehigh Valley Section WIE members or prospective members are welcome to attend.

Attendees: Bonnie Rohde, Maria Cohen, Christine Gerveshi, Elizabeth Nelson, CJ Sasso, Jennifer Winikus

1. Betty reported that she is planning an event celebrating the 75^th anniversary of the transistor. Proposed dates are 14^th or 15^th of February. She will share more information as it becomes available.
2. Bonnie proposed a career panel session for students in February. We will approach female WIE/IEEE members to be panelists.
3. Lifang alerted us to two CS talks:

   • 12/5/23 joint with LV WIE: “Getting Our Models Prepared for the Next Pandemic”
   • 11/30/23 “Training Large-scale Foundation Models on Emerging AI Accelerators”. The link to the talk is Training Large-scale Foundation Models on Emerging AI Accelerators

4. CJ discussed a program he had successfully used with elementary and middle school students. The program is called Aerolab, developed by the Alcoa Foundation. It covers the physics of flight over several sessions. Related topics were discussed:

   • Funding
   • Clearances
   • Student participation in teaching the labs
