Women in Engineering Affinity Group (WIE AG), IEEE-Hyderabad Section, is organizing this Professional Development Program. We invite Industry Professionals, Young Professionals / Faculty in Academic Institutions and Research Scholars/ Students.

A woman in Engineering Affinity Group (WIE AG), IEEE Hyderabad Section has initiated a New Lecture Series in the memory of "Ayyalasomayajula Lalitha", the first Woman Engineer in India. This is a first flagship event of WIE AG, IEEE Hyderabad Section. The vision of initiation of this lecture is "minimizing the gender gap and assist sustainable development of our country for Science, Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship among woman". The mission of this lecture is to promote, to excel, to motivate young girls towards STEM, to make every woman to participate and reach their goals professionally, to emphasize, to retain and bring back the women dropping out in large numbers in mid-career into work force and to inculcate a “career identity” in strong young brains, which makes them to handle the demands of their personal and professional lives.

Biography:

JAYA BHAMIDIPATI

B.Jaya has had a distinguished career of over 40 years in the Indian Electronics industry, primarily in Defence. She currently heads the R&D and Production of Defence Equipment at ICOMM Tele Ltd. After her BE in ECE from Andhra University in 1982, she worked at HAL, Hyderabad for about 7 years on the design, development, qualification, flight trials, pilot production and production support of various avionic equipment. She then had a successful stint at ARM and CDOT with design, development, qualification, flight trials and production support for rural telecom equipment for over 10 years. She returned to the area of defence electronics, joining Programme Air Defence at DRDO as Project Director (Weapon Systems), where she headed large scale weapon system integration such as Radars, Telemetry systems, and Launch Control Centres of Interceptor Missiles through C4I technology. During this time, she was part of a team that received the Technology Group Award from Dr. VK Saraswat, currently She then had a stint in the international Semiconductor industry as the Customer Engineering Head at Advanced Micronics Devices (AMD, integrating software of multimedia chips onto various customer hand-held devices from Motorola, HTC, Nokia and others. After this, she joined the Defence entity National Technical Research Organization as Programme Director (Missile Monitoring) for an extended stint. 
Jaya’s passion has been the indigenous development of advanced electronic systems, and she has worked with a number of Indian firms partnering with the defence industry and helped bring up a complete ecosystem in this area of strategic importance to our nation.
