On May 18th, at 4:30 pm, the Maracanã Unit will hold the lecture “Microelectronics, Robotics and Photonics at Cefet/RJ”. The event will take place in Auditorium 5 (DIPPG), located on the 5th floor of Block E, and will feature the participation of teachers Fabian Olivera (specialist in Microelectronics), Maria Aparecida Martinez (specialist in Photonics) and Milena Pinto (specialist in Robotics) . The lecture is open to the public, with no registration required, and participants will be entitled to a certificate. The event is being organized by the Postgraduate Programs in Electrical Engineering (PPEEL) and in Instrumentation and Applied Optics (PPGIO) and by the Coordination of the Electronic Engineering Course (CCGELT) at Cefet/RJ, in addition to the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society of Rio de Janeiro (CASS RJ).

Fabian Olivera

Biography:

Fabián (Member, IEEE) was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. He studied electronic engineering at the University of the Republic (UDELAR), Montevideo, Uruguay. He received the M.Sc. (2013) and Ph.D. (2017) degrees in electronic engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil. He is currently a full professor at the Federal Center for Technological Education of Rio de Janeiro (CEFET/RJ). He is also a professor at the CEFET/RJ's Graduate Programs in Electrical Engineering (PPEEL) and Instrumentation and Applied Optics (PPGIO). Since the second semester of 2022, he has served as the PPEEL coordinator. He is a visiting professor at the Graduate Program of Electrical Engineering of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (PEE/COPPE/UFRJ). Since 2022, he has served as the Chair of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) Rio de Janeiro Chapter. His teaching and research activities lie in the field of microelectronics, and his area of knowledge is analog and mixed-mode integrated circuit design for ultra-low-power applications.

Maria Aparecida Martinez

Biography:

He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1988), a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Center for the Study of Telecommunications (1991), and a PhD in Electrophysics from Drexel University (1997). She is currently an associate professor at the Celso Suckow da Fonseca Federal Center for Technological Education. She has experience in the area of electrical engineering, with an emphasis on applied optics and photonics, working mainly on the following topics: device modeling in integrated optics technology and the involvement of optical sensors.


Milena Faria Pinto

Robótica no CEFET/RJ (40 min)

Biography:

She is a permanent professor of the Electronic Engineering course (CCGELT) and works as a permanent professor in the postgraduate departments of Electrical Engineering (PPEEL) and Applied Instrumentation and Optics (PPGIO), all at the Federal Center for Technological Education Celso Suckow da Fonseca (CEFET-RJ). She is currently a Young Scientist of Our State (FAPERJ). She was a visiting professor at the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (IPB) in Portugal during the second semester of 2022. She was an advisor for agreements and international relations at CEFET-RJ from June to November 2022 and was coordinator of the PPGIO Postgraduate Program at CEFET-RJ/UFF from February to June 2022. He has a postdoctoral, master's, and doctorate in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), with a year of doctorate at the Technische Universität München. She has a degree in control and automation engineering from the Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais (CEFET-MG). She is a member of the Brazilian Automatic Society (SBA), IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), and IEEE Young Professionals. She has experience in the industrial area, having carried out an academic internship at the Institute of Combustion Technology of the German Aerospace Center (Institut für Verbrennungstechnik-DLR) in the city of Stuttgart (Germany). His areas of interest are artificial intelligence, embedded electronics, robotic systems, ROS, unmanned aerial vehicles, data processing, and fog-cloud computing.
