The hands-on Arduino workshop facilitated a transition from the digital realm to the physical world, allowing participants to engage in interactive challenges using Arduino technology. Prior experience with Arduino was optional, as the workshop was designed to guide attendees through the process step by step.

Key Workshop Components:

  • Registration and User Accounts: A user registration system was implemented to collect essential participant information.

  • Workshop Structure: The workshop comprised the following key components:

    a. Introduction to Arduino: Participants received an introductory overview of Arduino, its various types and applications, as well as the fundamental operations of an Arduino board.

    b. Hardware Components: Attendees were introduced to essential hardware components, such as the Arduino board, LEDs, sensors, motors, and other electronic parts. The instructors guided connecting these components and understanding their functionalities.

    c. Visual Studio Code: Participants were guided on installing VS Code on their computers and instructed on how to use it to write and upload code to the Arduino board.

    d. Basic Programming: Basic programming concepts, including variables, loops, and conditional statements, were covered. Simple examples were provided to facilitate comprehension and application.
  1. Hands-On Exercises: Participants engaged in guided projects, including creating a blinking LED, reading data from a temperature sensor, and controlling a servo motor, to apply their newly acquired knowledge.

    f. Troubleshooting: The workshop covered troubleshooting common issues such as incorrect wiring and code errors, emphasizing using the Arduino IDE's serial monitor for debugging purposes.

    g. Open-Ended Projects: Attendees were encouraged to brainstorm and develop their project ideas, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Resources: Participants were provided with a list of online resources and a summary of the workshop discussions to support their continued learning and problem-solving endeavors.

  • Project Challenges: As participants gained confidence, they were presented with more complex challenges, including the development of an obstacle alarm system, based on available resources and time. To enhance participant engagement and foster a sense of healthy competition, the organizing committee decided to publish photographs of the first-place winners, accompanied by a commendatory article acknowledging their exceptional dedication and performance during the workshop.
