NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY - OPPURTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES
The IEEE Workshop on "National Education Policy - Opportunities & Challenges" held on Saturday, 5th August 2023, at the Department of Electronics Auditorium, CUSAT, was a significant event that brought together distinguished guests, experts and participants from various sectors to delve into the multifaceted aspects of India's New Education Policy (NEP).
The event was jointly organized by the IEEE Kerala Section and IEEE Kochi Subsection, and proudly hosted by the IEEE Student Branch at Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). With the aim of fostering knowledge exchange and critical discourse, the workshop aimed to analyse the far-reaching opportunities and practical challenges associated with the NEP. The event was attended by 48 participants from 19 institutions.
The panel discussion brought together a diverse set of experts from academia, industry, and policy domains. Dr. Suresh Nair, former Chair of IEEE India Council, Dr. Meenakshy K., the Principal of Govt Engineering College, Palakkad, Dr. Benjamin Varghese P., Controller of Examinations at CUSAT, and Dr. Shakila T. Shamsu, who served as both a panelist and keynote speaker, engaged in a captivating discourse moderated by Dr. Bijuna Kunju, Chair of WiE, IEEE Kerala Section.
The discussion revolved around the significant opportunities envisioned by the NEP, as well as the pragmatic challenges encountered during its implementation. Insights were shared regarding the role of academia, the integration of technology, the importance of research, and the critical need for collaboration between stakeholders. The panelists' diverse perspectives enriched the discussion, providing a comprehensive overview of the multifaceted dimensions of the NEP.
The IEEE Workshop on "National Education Policy - Opportunities & Challenges" concluded with a vote of thanks extended by Prof. Rekha K James, Chair of Strategic Initiatives Academia, IEEE Kerala Section. The event not only provided a platform for meaningful discussions but also facilitated networking and the exchange of ideas among experts and participants.
The workshop served as a testament to the commitment of IEEE in fostering knowledge dissemination and critical analysis in matters of national importance. The insights shared and discussions held during the event are expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing discourse on the New Education Policy and its impact on the higher education landscape in India.
