WIE AG of GCET SB in Association with WIE AG IEEE- Hyderabad section is organizing Student Summit on “Technicalities and Opportunities in Space Sector”  
The details of the event are as given below.
Name of the event: Student Summit
Title: “Technicalities and opportunities in Space sector”
Date and Time: 11/12/2023, Tuesday 10:00 am to 03:30pm  
Venue: Geethanjali college of Engineering,Hyderabad.

Report: The Student Summit enlightened the participants with talks by the guests, brainstorming sessions which gave many insights and opportunities to get connected in the market and also had awareness how to excel in thisdomain. The event was conducted in two phases; Ms. Mangala Mani took the forenoon session whereas Ms. M. V. Roopa took the afternoon session. Dr. Udaya Kumar Susarla, Principal, GCET,  Dr. Y. Vijayalatha, IEEE Hyderabad chair , Dr.Jayaprakasan,treasurer,IEEE Hyderabad section , Dr.Harshavardhini treasurer, Dr.Harivardhagni.S, chair WIE AG and G.Srilakshmi past chair WIE AG ,IEEE Hyderabad section addressed the gathering.

Faculty coordinators of the student summit Dr Aruna Bharathi and Ms.S.Jyothirmae conveyed their heartfelt gratefulness to all the speakers, management of GCET and IEEE Hyderabad section for their support and encouragement.

Biography:

Mangala Mani is the Eldest of 6 Siblings to her Parents Sri Bugge Sundar Rao (Late), B.A and Smt. Santa Ratnamma,
B.A, both of whom have retired from AG’s Office, Hyderabad, as Audit Officer and Accounts Officer respectively.
She has 4 Sisters and a Brother. Her 1 st Sister is Dr. B.Kantha Sree (MBBS, MS(Opthal), Working in Gandhi General
Hospital, Hyderabad), 2 nd Sister is B.C.Kumari (BSc-Nutrition, Business Entrepreneur), 3 rd Brother B.Chenchal
Kumar(B.Tech (Civil) working as Senior GM in ONGC), 4 th Sister B.Chandra Kantha (B.Tech (ECE), Working as System
Analyst, USA) and 5 th Sister Dr. Surya Kantha (MBBS, MD(BioChem), Working in Nizamabad Govt. Medical College).
(3 Engineers, 2 Doctors and 1 Business Entrepreneur). She is married to Nalli Ratna Sagar (B.Tech(Mech)), Sr.
General Manager (Retd) from BEL, Hyderabad. Her daughter Dr. Ancy Dimpy (PhD in Life Science) is working in Food
and Drug Administration (FDA, USA) and son Mr. Prasanth finished his MS in Computer Graphics and Web Designing
and is working in a Construction Company in Canada as Web App Developer.
After her Schooling from Holy Mary Girls High School, Saifabad, Hyderabad, she has completed her Diploma in
Electronics and Joined ISTRAC, SHAR, as a Technical Assistant on 12 th March, 1982. She has completed her B.Tech in
Electronics and Communication Engineering from JNTU, Hyderabad in 1988 and then Master of Engineering in
Internet Science Engineering from IISc, Bangalore. Presently, she is pursuing her Doctoral studies in the Geo-
Engineering Department of Andhra University, Visakhapatnam.
Her extracurricular activities: - Presidents Guide, Sports, Reading, Volunteering etc.
She is a Fellow of Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers (IETE) and Life Member of
International Micro-Electronics and Packaging Society (iMAPS)-India Chapter and Life Member of Indian Society of
Remote Sensing (ISRS).
She worked in ISTRAC, SHAR, Nellore from Mar1982 to Oct 19 85 and thereafter in ISTRAC, Bangalore, upto June
1988, when ISTRAC was established as a separate center, in Bangalore. She supported the Telecommanding
activities while in ISTRAC (SHAR and Bangalore) and was part of the team, when the facility at Bangalore was
established from scratch.
When she joined SHAR, she was very much inspired by the then Project Director of SLV-3, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
She has supported our first Communications Satellite, APPLE and our LEO Satellites Bhaskara-1 & 2 and Rohini
satellites. While in ISTRAC, Bangalore, she has supported our 1 st Indigenous Polar Orbiting Satellite IRS-1A, after
which, on request was transferred to NRSC, Hyderabad.
While in NRSC, she has been involved in Hardware designing of Cards which were installed in ESA Ground station in
Spain and Acquisition systems in NASA, Florida, which is a collaborative effort of ISRO and DLR, Germany. She was
part of 3-member team to Spain for installation and imparting training to (European Space Agency) ESA personal.
She was involved in Payload Data Processing of Landsat (NASA), SPOT (French) and our Indian Remote Sensing (IRS)
satellites and handling Satellite Data Quality Evaluation of our Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) Satellites. As a Certified
Lead Auditor, she also handled Quality Assurance activities of different entities of NRSC to comply with ISO
9001:2015 standards.
NRSC has established a ground station for earth observations satellites in Antarctica to supplement the data
collection for ISRO. She has been part of a 3-member ISRO team to operate and maintain the station 24x7 at Bharati
Research Station, Antarctica for more than a year, successfully supporting 12 Missions for ISTRAC and NRSC.
With more than 39 ½ years of service in ISRO/Dept of Space, she has grown along with our Organisation steadily
and strongly, both benefiting and contributing. During her Career, she has supported 30 IRS Missions, 1 Planetary
Mission - Chandrayaan-1 and 5 foreign missions, totalling 36 Missions. She has retired in Oct 2021 on
Superannuation and is presently aiming to complete har doctoral studies.
