Overview:
The industrial visit to the C-MET industry instigated on 5th June, 2023, with the students assembling at the designated meeting point in Vignana Bharathi Institute of Technology College at the scheduled time.
The buses departed from the college premises to the C-MET industry site, which is located at Cherlapally, Hyderabad, setting the students on their path to exploration and discovery.
On reaching the C-MET industry, the students were greeted by designated personnel who guided them to the designated area where the visit commenced.
The industrial visit began with a comprehensive introduction to the C-MET industry. The students were provided with valuable insights into the organization, its mission and its significant contributions to the electronics industry.
The students embarked on a tour of various departments and facilities within the C-MET industry, including:
- Recycling of Si Solar Module Lab: In this lab, the students learned about the sustainable decomposition of
damaged solar cells and the extraction of materials such as lead, aluminium, copper, and silicon. They also
discovered the economic advantages of recycling discarded PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) and the recovery
of precious metals like copper, gold, and silver. This process contributes to the reduction of e-waste.
- Hafnium Plant: The students visited the Hafnium plant, where they witnessed the production of Hafnium
oxide. They learned about the three cycles of production and explored the biomedical and space applications
of Hafnium oxide. This visit provided insights into the advanced manufacturing processes and applications
of Hafnium.
- Silicon Carbide Research Facility: The students had the opportunity to explore the Silicon Carbide research
facility, where they learned about the manufacturing process of Silicon Carbide. They discovered its high
bandwidth properties and its applications in defence. This facility is the only one of its kind in India.
- RoHS Laboratory (Restriction of Hazardous Substances): The students visited the RoHS Laboratory, which
focuses on ensuring compliance with the regulations regarding hazardous substances in electronic products.
They gained knowledge about the testing and analysis procedures used to detect and restrict the use of
hazardous materials in electronic devices.
After the industrial visit, students gathered for a concluding session where they gave feedback.
The visit fostered curiosity, ignited passion, and inspired the students to explore further in their pursuit of knowledge in the field of electronics.
