Stop the Wireless Threat - Dawn of the Drone

Drones & UAV technology are advancing rapidly. Companies are eyeing them up for aerial photography, delivery services and media while other unsavory individuals use them for spying and hacking. There are over 200,000 Drones sold every month. The FAA has just proposed new guidelines to bolster safety precautions further. Hackers are using this airborn wireless threat to cause havoc at sports stadiums, spy on individuals, or even target your mobile phone. Drones can now fly faster, farther, and carry more potentially lethal payloads than just a few years ago. Drones can also spoof a Wi-Fi network and fool your mobile device to connecting and launch a man-in-the-middle attack compromising your credentials and stealing user names and passwords. And they are all available as off-the-shelf hardware to consumers for relatively cheap. Wireless cyber threat detection tools can effectively detect and locate drones and their pilots by warning and thwarting a potential wireless breach.

Stop the Wireless Threat - Dawn of the Drone

Drones & UAV technology are advancing rapidly. Companies are eyeing them up for aerial photography, delivery services and media while other unsavory individuals use them for spying and hacking.

Biography:

Scott N. Schober a Cyber Security Expert and President / CEO of Berkeley Varitronics Systems (BVS), a 40- year-old New Jersey-based, family-owned company and leading provider of advanced wireless solutions and products for multi-national telecommunications and security markets around the world. Since the beginning of Mr. Schober’s BVS tenure in 1989, the company’s product line of wireless test and security instruments has increased to over 100 products with a core focus on Wi-Fi, Cellular, WiMAX, LTE and advanced radio devices. As an experienced software engineer, Schober has developed cellular test instruments used for measuring, optimizing and plotting signal coverage, primarily for the initial cellular build-out throughout the United States. Scott’s recent focus has been development (patent pending) of BVS’ cell phone detection tools, used to enforce a ‘no cell phone policy’ in various markets including government, corporate, military, educational, correctional and law enforcement. Thousands of these security tools have been deployed throughout every state in the U.S. and around the world. Mr. Schober is a highly sought after cyber security expert for media appearances and commentary as well as technical speaking engagements. In 2015, Mr. Schober testified at the State Capital in Trenton, NJ on the threats Drones pose to critical infrastructure. Recent media appearances include Bloomberg TV, Canadian TV News and Arise TV where he is a regular cyber security expert and contributor. Scott has also made numerous appearances on Fox Business Channel, Fox News, Al Jazeera America, CCTV America, Inside Edition, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, PIX11, The Blaze, OAN and more to weigh in on the largest retail, corporate, government and consumer security scandals in recent history. He has presented as a subject expert on the topic of cyber security/corporate espionage, as well as cell phone detection and location at numerous conferences and trade shows around the globe including GovSec, Counter Terror expo, ISS Americas, ERII Counterespionage Conference, IEEE, NJTC, Connected World, GSM World Congress and more. Schober was a VIP attendee at two Concordia Summits both held in New York and was selected to appear in an interview discussing national security. Mr. Schober authored a book entitled ‘HACKED AGAIN’ which is a candid glimpse of how his company was hacked, the mistakes made, and the lessons learned. He shares practical tips to protect yourself from being the next victim so you can stay safe.
