A webinar has been arranged by IEEE Hyderabad Section Reliability Society Chapter (HSRSC) in collaboration with Malla Reddy Turbine Generatiors Power Diagnostic and Testing Pvt. Ltd (MRTGPDTP Ltd) Hyderabad in association with IEEE Ananthapuramu Subsection along with a few associated Student Branches (STBs) on the topic, “Generator Rotor Winding: Design and Construction, Common Problems and Maintenance”, with the resource person Sri K.K. Roy, AGM (Retd.) BHEL Hyderabad.  Sri PGS Kumar Technical Director, MRTGPDTPL, it has welcomed the gathering and necessitated the need of industry – Institute Collaboration and creating awareness about Turbine Generators (TG) manufacturing process, winding, designs, problems associated with the auxiliaries for budding engineers, academicians and industry experts.  In this context, he stated that 5th one of the series of webinars has been organized from the organizations.

Sri Somnath Pal, Chair, IEEE HSRSC in his opening remarks has emphasized the importance of reliability and quality of electrical generators and welcomed the company to conduct the events during World Quality Day in November 2023 in the form of workshop.

The prominent industry experts who were present on line are:

Sri KM Vishnu Murthy, Retd. AGM, BHEL, Sri Ch. V. Satyanarayana, Retd. CE VTPS, Sri Srinivas Desikar, Sri KM Kiran, O.P.Nanda, Sri Greedy Swetala from Tanznia etc.  Dr. DV Ashok Kumar, Director Administration, RGMCET and Vice Chair IEEE ATPSS has welcomed the gathering.  A few research scholars have also attended.

The topics that emerged in experts interaction is practical aspects of TG in Thermal Power Stations are:

  1. ii) Dynamic balancing and

iii) Mitigation of leakage currents etc.

Several suggestions have been made by the experts for students and faculty to know more about Industry – Institution – Interaction for collaborative activities like in-house training, research, placements.  Sri Somnath Pal has mentioned about Smart village concept.

Sankar, Chair, IEEE ATPSS (2023) has proposed vote of thanks and acknowledged MRTG PDTPL, H for their initiation through Sri PGS Kumar 5th one in the series of webinars on TG.  He gratefully acknowledged industry experts who have lot of patience and shared their expertise during the webinar.  He has expressed thankfulness to faculty and students who have participated from the STBs of ATPSS and Reliability Society Hyderabad Executive Committee Members.
