Welcome to the Future
Biography:
Rick is an electronics Engineer with a little over 40 years in the world of firing systems. Currently the Technical Lead for the FBI Lab’s Technical Exploitation Unit at the Terrorist Explosive Device Analytical Center in Huntsville, Rick began his career in 1983 as a Student Engineer with the UK’s Ministry of Defence.
Rick worked at the UK’s Atomic Weapons Establishment on a variety of firing, safety and security systems as well as designing novel detonators, supporting the Counter-WMD mission and being a technical advisor to Special Operations Forces.
In 2004 Rick moved to the US as a “person of extraordinary Ability” (no kidding, that’s an actual thing), becoming a US citizen in 2010. For fourteen years he worked as an instructor of Improvised Explosive Device firing systems and home made explosives, designed tools and techniques for specialist military and public safety bomb technicians, and acted as a subject matter expert for DHS, DOD, and others. In 2018 he was invited to Join the FBI as an electronics engineer – forensic examiner, he likes it there and is planning to stay.
Over the years Rick has worked on 4 continents and visited 44 states, been a firefighter and an ocean racing sailor. In his free time he runs, reads philosophy, kayaks and sings karaoke very poorly.
