Biography:

Leslie L. Rivera-López is an enthusiastic Ph.D. student at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, currently pursuing a Doctorate of Philosophy in Translational Sciences.  Originally from the University of Puerto Rico, she earned her B.S. in Natural Sciences with a major in General Sciences, consistently showcasing a passion for scientific research throughout her academic journey. Complemented by a Master's degree in Biomedical Diagnostics from Arizona State University, she possesses a robust foundation and substantial experience in various research roles.


In her current capacity as a Senior Scientist at General Dynamics Information, Leslie actively contributes to cutting-edge research within the military field. Her responsibilities encompass overseeing and conducting behavioral assessments, as well as implementing research studies that span from small rodent behavioral tests to advanced molecular biology techniques. Beyond her research endeavors, Leslie is committed to mentorship and leadership roles, actively participating in programs like the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation and the National Science Foundation I-Corps Regional Program. Acknowledging her noteworthycontributions, she has been honored with awards and certificates, including the Hero Award Certificate of Recognition from GDIT and the Military and Veterans Health Solutions Certificate of Recognition for Agility.


Leslie L. Rivera-López has contributed significantly to the scientific community with research publications, including studies on endometriosis, environmental enrichment effects, traumatic brain injury, and the evaluation of therapeutic interventions for pain, showing her expertise and dedication in the field of translational sciences.
