Topic:

A Concept of Superconducting Integrated Energy System for New Infrastructure of Data Center

The new infrastructure of data centers is the cornerstone and foundation of the development of the digital economy, but it also brings huge energy consumption and carbon emissions. The introduction of clean renewable energy is expected to achieve the ambitious goal of "carbon neutrality" in the Internet technology industry, but IT is currently facing the technical bottleneck of how to friendly bridge the unstable capacity output of new energy and the high-quality energy demand of data center IT equipment. This work initially explores the new superconducting customized power technology integrating superconducting cable, energy storage device, current limiter, circuit breaker and chopper, and introduces the new concept of superconducting integrated energy of "superconducting power supply" + "liquid nitrogen cooling", which is expected to provide efficient, high-quality, safe and economical superconducting new equipment and engineering product research and development ideas for the new infrastructure of data centers, which can further promote superconducting custom power/energy technology from basic research to data center engineering applications.   

Biography:

Xiao Yuan Chen (Member, IEEE) received the B.S. degree from the Chengdu University of Technology, Chengdu, China, in 2007, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, in 2015. He is currently a Professor with the School of Engineering, Sichuan Normal University, Chengdu. His research interests include superconducting integrated energy, superconducting custom power, and cryogenic power electronics.
