Technical Meeting and Presentation on Leadership Reflections: Meeting the Rising Expectations of 21st Century Jobs and Works
The landscape of work is transforming at an unprecedented pace. Automation, globalization, and technological disruption are redefining job requirements and demanding a new breed of leader – agile, innovative, and attuned to the complex expectations of the 21st century. This abstract invites undergraduate students to embark on a journey of critical reflection, exploring the evolving concept of leadership in the face of these rising expectations. We'll delve into the changing demands of modern workplaces, dissecting the essential skills and mindsets needed to thrive in this fluid environment. From embracing ambiguity and fostering collaboration to leading a midst constant change and navigating ethical dilemmas posed by emerging technologies, the discussion will challenge students to redefine their understanding of what it means to lead effectively. Through the lens of real-world examples and case studies, students will engage in introspection, critically examining their own leadership potential and identifying areas for development. From honing their communication and emotional intelligence to cultivating adaptability and a growth mindset, we'll explore essential tools for building a leadership toolkit fit for the future.
In addition, participants would be encouraged to join the IEEE ComSoc - a network of professionals, experts, and advisors, to help grow, shape their career, provide resources for learning new skills and reach their full potential in the communications industry.

To help students emerge equipped to not only meet the rising expectations of modern work but also shape the very definition of leadership for generations to come and encouraging them joining the IEEE ComSoc.
Biography:
Dr Rislan Abdulazeez Kanya CITP, MBCS, MCPN, MNCS, SMIEE Graduated with B.Sc. (Hons) in Computing and Information Systems and PhD Computing (ICT for Development - ICT4D) from University of Portsmouth and a Master of Business Administration from University of Wales. Rislan has diversified experience in the field of Information Systems, Digital Transformation, Change Management and Business Process Re-engineering. A resourceful and focused ICT specialist with considerable exposure in Enterprise Architecture, Project/Programme Management, ICT4D, Higher Education Planning, Administration and Evaluation. Rislan has practical experience with Higher Education Innovation, Data and Funding Analytics, Design and Implementation of Campus and Large Networks, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and many more. He had earlier worked as an instructor for CTech USA certification programs at Informatics Institute, Computer Training Centre Manager in Jigawa State and Jigawa Savings and Loans Bank as Information Systems Officer, Head of Accounts/Operations for some years before joining Baze University Abuja as a pioneer staff and Director of IT Services and promoted to Deputy Vice-Chancellor IT, Research and Innovation in 2021. Rislan has much interest in how ICTs can be used in sustainable development goals (ICT4SDGs), capability enhancement (Economic empowerment/poverty reduction), Big Data Analytics in disruptive innovation. Rislan has coached and mentored more than 2000 young and vulnerable youth on how they can exploit the power of computers, the Internet, and social media to improve their capabilities, choices and functionings. Rislan developed a hybrid framework during his PhD research to reduce ICT4D project failure and improve the ICT4D project champion. Rislan was involved in many United Nations multi-stakeholders programs targeting the attainment of SDGs.
