Global Positioning Systems (GPS) provide accurate position, navigation, and timing (PNT) information and are vulnerable to electromagnetic interference from intentional and unintentional sources. Commercial businesses such as Ligado Networks are increasingly acquiring L-Band spectrum portions for 5G and IoT services, placing GPS receivers at risk. Metamagnetics' Self-Adaptive Filter for Enhanced Anti-jam GPS (SAFE-GPS) module enables these receivers to operate in the presence of interference by selectively attenuating high-power signals.
Integrating the module into receivers provides a novel means of spectrum management that improves resiliency in congested environments. This workshop aims to demonstrate the Metamagnetics' SAFE-GPS module's functionality and potential.

Impact of 5G Networks on GPS Navigation –How to Make GPS Receivers Resilient in Congested Environments

Biography:

Dr. Reena Dahle received her Electrical Engineering Ph.D. in 2008 from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, where she worked as a researcher at the Center for Integrated RF Engineering (CIRFE). She was extensively involved with RF MEMS device microfabrication and characterization. While working as a senior microwave systems engineer (2008-2012) at MITEQ in Hauppauge, Long Island, Dr. Dahle oversaw the design of high-performance components and subsystems for satellite communication and earth station systems. Dr. Dahle also worked in academia as an associate professor (2012 – 2021) with the Division of Engineering.
Programs at State University of New York (SUNY) New Paltz. Her research interests included wireless power transfer, biomedical near-field sensing, and applications of 3-D printing to antenna and RF device design. Dr. Dahle is a Principal RF Engineer and Product Development Manager at Metamagnetics in Marlborough, Massachusetts. As Principal Investigator and Program Manager on several programs with the
In the Department of Defense as well as DARPA, she leads projects focused on the design of the core company product, the AutoTune Filter (AtF).
