AVENSIS-Gully Cricket
IEEE MSIT organised Gully Cricket in AVENSIS'24
The Gully Cricket event was a thrilling showcase of sportsmanship and talent. Teams competed fiercely in a Limited-Over Knockout Blitz, displaying remarkable skills and strategic gameplay. The elimination format added a dynamic and fast-paced element to the cricket event. A total of six teams comprising of six members each from various departments vied for the coveted title. Gully cricket, is an informal version of the traditional game played in the open spaces (gullies) of neighborhoods. The game is played in a limited space, with the use of minimal equipment. Rules are modified and many informal rules are adapted like ‘1 tip out, medium paced bowling, and direct boundary out’.
The six teams competed on a first come first serve basis, and three of the winning teams moved to the next round. The team with the highest total run rate was given a bye to the finals while the other two had a semi-final match. A final match was then conducted and the winner team was decided.
The semi-finals and finals were a culmination of weeks of preparation, with the finalists showcasing exceptional teamwork and individual brilliance. The atmosphere was filled with cheers and applause as the winning team was declared. The Gully cricket event undoubtedly added a dynamic and competitive edge to the overall fest experience.
Result was declared on the spot by the honorable judges. Cash prize was announced for the winning team. The event lasted for approximately 2 hours from 11:00am to 1:00pm. The joint effort by the participants made this event a huge success.
