Significant changes to the CSA Z462 Workplace electrical safety Standard, 2024 Edition have occurred and Z462 is technically diverging from NFPA 70E 2024 Edition.  New electrical hazard classification information is included in CSA Z462 related to dc and capacitors.  This webinar will present the changes that occurred to both NFPA 70E 2024 and CSA Z462 2024 and place specific focus on the CSA Z462 2024 Edition.

Biography:

Terry W. Becker, P.Eng., CESCP, and IEEE Senior Member, is one of North America's foremost subject matter experts in electrical safety. His career and personal mission are dedicated to saving lives by minimizing electrical risk to as low as reasonably practicable. Founder of TW Becker Electrical Safety Consulting Inc. (TWBESC), Terry is an independent electrical safety specialist and consultant for organizations spanning multiple industry sectors (e.g. commercial, institutional and industrial).

With 32 years as an Electrical Engineer, Terry's vast expertise bridges both engineering consulting and influential positions within top-tier energy corporations. He was the owner and visionary of ESPS (Electrical Safety Program Solutions Inc.) for a decade – propelling the organization, and arc flash & electric shock hazard identification and risk assessment, into prominence. Today, TWBESC continues to elevate electrical safety through:

· Electrical Safety Program development, implementation and training,

· External Electrical Safety Audits,

· An array of electrical safety training solutions, and,

· Helping clients deploy their Electrical Safety Programs to a modernized, web-based ecosystem.

Terry is the first past Vice-Chair of the CSA Z462 Workplace electrical safety Standard Technical Committee and is currently a Voting Member and leader of the Working Group for Clause 4.1 and the Annexes. He is also a Voting Member of the IEEE 1584 Guide for Performing Arc-Flash Hazard Calculations Technical Committee, and a Founder Member/Voting Member of the CSA Z463 Maintenance of electrical systems Standard, Technical Committee. Terry's global recognition as an electrical safety innovator/leader is evidenced by hundreds of lectures and presentations spanning Canada and the U.S. to Australia, Italy, and India. He holds professional engineering licenses in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario.
