Our first PHOLTRAN event will be held between March 4-25, 2024, at 19.00-21.00 (GMT+3) on Microsoft Teams. The first training, “MATLAB - Foundation Level”, will be delivered by Sinan Genc, PhD. from Abdullah Gül University, Department of Electrical Electronics Engineering. (The language of education will be Turkish.)

PhD Sinan Genc
MATLAB - Foundation Level
Biography:
Sinan Genc completed his studies in Electrical Electronics Engineering at Sakarya University in 2012. In 2013, he began his career as a research assistant at Abdullah Gül University in Kayseri, Turkey. During his Masters, he conducted research on nanomaterials and quantum dots specifically for display applications. Participation in events of PhotonİCS Society, conferences, and specialized trainings on sustainability, renewable energy, and the environment, influenced his decision to pursue a different path for his PhD. In 2023, he conducted research on optical sensors for microplastics and successfully finished his PhD thesis entitled "Optical Scattering-Based Random Forest-Assisted Particle Detection and Classification." Currently, he has the position of a postdoctoral researcher at Physics Department of Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey.
He is the Associate Vice President of Young Professionals for IEEE Photonics Society and the chair of Young Professionals Advisory Committee. He also works with Global Solutions Initiative and newly appointed as Ambassador for Middle East region.
