Power Line Communications (PLC Systems) represent an alternative for isolated or remote areas where the installation of a communication route would be infeasible. Through the existing power network, the generated PLC signal makes use of the power cables as a path of propagation. However, due the influence of the soil in the phenomenon of signal propagation, it is essential to consider the effects of soil electrical parameters for the operating frequency of the channel. Therefore, the objective of this presentation is proposing a model, based on laboratory measurements, to obtain the soil electrical parameters as a function of Frequency.

Biography:

Francisco Rodrigues Sabino Junior was born in Maranguape, Ceará, Brazil, in 1976. He received his degree in Electrical Engineering in 2000 from the Federal University of Ceará and the doctor degree from Federal University of Pernambuco in 2013. From 2002 until now, he is with Hydro Electrical Company of São Francisco River. Nowadays is working in power system designs. His current research interests deal with electromagnetic compatibility. His doctor thesis was mainly in the field of soil electrical parameters effects on the electric field due to power line communications.
