Metal Migration and Acoustic Stress at GHZ Frequencies in SAW Resonators

Metal Migration and Acoustic Stress at GHZ Frequencies in SAW Resonators are critical issues is high frequency SAW VCO.  High power applications of Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) devices may lead to acoustomigration in their thin metal electrodes, which deteriorates the performance or may even destroy the SAW device. The grain size in metal interdigital transducer (IDT) fingers of surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonators exhibit influence on the resonator phase noise performance. This talk will address the SAW structures, metallizations, and driving conditions for high reliability applications.
