IEEE President Tom Coughlin will share his goals and objectives and Joseph Wei will present how Region 6 will support Tom in achieving his goals. This will be an interactive session where Tom and Joseph will take questions and feedback from the audience on how IEEE can better serve its members in the Bay area and around the world.

Tom Coughlin

Biography:

Tom Coughlin, President, Coughlin Associates is a digital storage analyst and business and technology consultant. He has over 38 years in the data storage industry with engineering and management positions at several companies. Coughlin Associates consults, publishes books and market and technology reports and puts on digital storage-oriented events. He is a regular storage and memory contributor for forbes.com and M&E organization websites. He is an IEEE Fellow, IEEE President, Past President of IEEE-USA and is active with SNIA and SMPTE. Joseph Wei

Biography:

Joseph Wei, Managing Director of Technology Ventures Group, LLC, a management advisory company to global corporations and startups on investment and Go To Market strategies. Previously, he co-founded Lab360 Hardware Incubator in Santa Clara, a hardware incubator that provided investment, mentorship, and business acceleration for early-stage IoT and Wearable startups. Joseph also held executive positions at Inventec, NEC, SGI and DEC (both SGI and Dec were acquired by HP). He is an IEEE Senior Member, Region 6 Director-Elect, past-Chair of the Santa Clara Valley Section, past-BoG, past-Chair and Treasurer of the SFBA CT Society. Alan Weissberger

Biography:

Alan J Weissberger, ScD is the Content Manager for the IEEE ComSoc Techblog (techblog.comsoc.org which was previously community.comsoc.org). He's also a principal author at Viodi.com, Manager and Moderator of the IEEE Member Discussion list, North American Correspondent for the IEEE Global Communications Newsletter, Chairman Emeritus and Advisor to IEEE ComSocSCV.

Alan was the founder and past Chairman of the IEEE Silicon Valley Technology History committee (2013-2015). He is an IEEE Sr Life Member who was an adjunct professor at SCU EE Dept and is currently a Research Affiliate in the SCU School of Engineering.

Weissberger specializes in (wireless and wireline) telecom technology and applications, data center and enterprise networking, technology assessment, market positioning, competitive analysis of telecom services and companies, and intellectual property research & evaluation.
