Meeting of the Philadelphia Joint chapter IEEE Power & Energy and Industry Applications Societies

The electric grid has been the focus of studies and research when it comes to reliability, efficiency, and improvements. One technical approach to enhancing the electrical gird is the microgrid. As defined, a microgrid is a group of interconnected loads and distributed energy resources (DER) with clearly defined electrical boundaries that acts a single controllable entity with respect to the grid and can connect and disconnect from the grid to enable it to operate in both gird-connected or island mode. This presentation will cover what is a microgrid, its advantages and implementations with the national grid.
