Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) can protect your ideas, your work, your products, your services, and your company identity.  After giving an overview of the classic tools for protecting IP include patents, trade secrets, trademarks and copyrights, we’ll cover some real-world IP risks including outsourcing R&D, open-source software, contributing to and using standards, and joint ownership.  Finally, we’ll discuss different strategies for employing the tools to meet your needs while managing the real-world IP risks.

Biography:

Marc Mayer is Director of Intellectual Property for Keysight Technologies, Inc., responsible for managing and protecting Keysight’s intellectual property rights.  Marc is actively involved in a broad range of IP-related transactions including M&A activities and development of the company's world-wide intellectual properly strategy. Marc has been working for Keysight since it was spun out of Agilent Technologies in 2014 and worked for Agilent since it was spun out of Hewlett Packard in 1999. Marc served as a JAG in the US Air Force from 1993 until 1997 when he was hired by Hewlett Packard as an IP attorney.

Marc received his J.D. from the Temple University School of Law, and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University.

Marc’s personal interests include fixing/restoring motor vehicles, traveling with his family and home remodeling.
