Biography:

Dr. Sanmoy Bandyopadhyay currently a Senior Project Associate in the Aditya-L1 Support Cell Project at Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), Nainital, graduated in electronics and communication engineering from the Academy of Technology under West Bengal University of Technology (presently Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology) in 2009. In 2012, he received an M.Tech in the same discipline with a major in telecommunication engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur. Subsequently, he joined as a Research Fellow at the Center for Soft Computing Research, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata in 2012 and continued his work until 2018. He completed his Ph.D. in 2022 from IIT, Indore in the Discipline of Astronomy, Astrophysics and Space Engineering. From March, 2021 to April 2021 he served as Senior Project Assistant in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT, Jodhpur. Later, he again joined the Center for Soft Computing Research, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, and served two terms as an Honorary Visiting Scientist in Laboratory for Cognitive Systems and Cybernetics Research, first from November 2021 to April, 2022, then for a period of 3 months from July, 2022 to September 2022. He has authored or co-authored about 23 technical papers in journals, conference and book chapters and received the best paper award for presenting papers in a workshop organized by IEEE GRSS Kolkata Chapter. His research interests include antenna array synthesis, fuzzy logic, and solar image analysis. He serves as a reviewer of several journals and conference proceedings. He is currently a life member of the Indian Science Congress Association and Indian Statistical Institute Council.
