IEEE Cincinnati October Section Meeting: Automotive Alternative Drive


October Section Meeting 

This meeting will be held at the University of Cincinnati in conjunction with the student section. 

Join us as Mr. Dylan Boyles details the evolution electric and hybrid drive vehicles with a special consideration of the BMW i8.  A presentation on the past, current, and evolving technology that drives electric and hybrid drive vehicles. The topics include:

  • Types of alternative drive vehicles
  • Drivetrain design and operation
  • High voltage battery design, construction, and operation
  • Charging and power supply
  • Service and safety
  • The future, limitations, and challenges

Registration:

The system is available if the text "Click Here to Register" is displayed in large red letters on a yellow background below. After selecting "Click here to Register", select "Register and pay the fee..." if you wish to attend the dinner at 6:00pm, or select "Register only (skip optional fee)" if you only wish to attend the presentation at 6:30pm. This will help us determine how much pizza to purchase.

DINNER RESERVATIONS Members: No Charge, Non-members: No Charge.

Members: Please enter your IEEE Membership number when registering. Please enter only the digits. Experienced members might have to add leading zeros to properly enter their membership number. Use the Drop-down box on the Registration page to select Member or Non-member Dinner. The system will not allow you to select Member Dinner if you have entered the wrong IEEE Membership number or if you have typed anything other than the digits.

Reservations close at midnight on October 25. WALK-INS (those without reservations): Walk-ins are always welcome, but we request that you please register in advance so we know how much food and drinks to provide. DINNER RESERVATION CANCELLATION POLICY An email to Reservations@ieeecincinnati.org prior to the close of reservations is requested to cancel your reservation.

Mr. Dylan Boyles of University Of Cincinnati

 Dylan Boyles 

Biography:

 

Mr. Dylan Boyles is a Master Technician and Alternative Drive Specialist at BMW of Cincinnati North. He has been a technician in the automotive industry for 23 years. Mr. Boyles was one of the first alternate drive technicians trained by BMW in the country. He has extensive experience with BMW, Mazda, and the aftermarket, specializing in German and Japanese automobile repair. 

 

Mr. Boyles was also and Adjunct Professor at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, teaching in the Automotive Service Management Program.
