The IEEE International conference on “Power Electronics, Smart Grid and Renewable Energy (PESGRE 2023)” is the third edition of biennial conference organized by IA/IE/PELS Jt. chapter Kerala. The conference is sponsored by IEEE Industry Applications society, Power Electronics Society, IEEE Kerala section, and IA/IE/PELS Jt. chapter Kerala. The theme of the conference is “Power Electronics and renewable energy for sustainable development”. The Conference focuses on the latest technologies, strategies and challenges that are faced by power Electronics systems, Electric Drives, Renewable Energy resources and the interconnection to modern power systems and the operation in the smart grid environment for a better, smarter and more environment-friendly Power System. Focus areas of the conference are Power Electronic Converters, Control Systems, Smart Grid Technology, Renewable Energy Resources, Distributed Generation and Grid Interconnection, Electric Vehicles, Energy storage & battery charging techniques, FACTS & Custom power, The IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Smart Grid, and Renewable Energy (PESGRE 2023) held from 17th to 20th December 2023 showcased a dynamic amalgamation of academic excellence, industry insights, and networking opportunities. Day 0: Tutorials and Welcome Reception (17th December 2023)

The conference commenced with a series of tutorials led by eminent experts, covering topics ranging from Digital Control to Cyber Threat Assessment and Power Electronic Converters for Electric Vehicle Charging. The tutorials set the stage for an intellectually stimulating conference by providing participants with in-depth knowledge and practical insights.

The inauguration at Confluence Hall marked the formal commencement of the program, providing attendees with a clear understanding of its objectives.

Keynote speeches by Prof. Andy Knight and Prof. S. C. Srivastava set the tone for the day, providing valuable insights into DER Integration and Smart Distribution Systems, respectively. The day continued with industry sessions, paper presentations, and concluded with a Banquet Dinner and Cultural Programme, creating a vibrant and enriching environment for all participants.

Day 2: Paper Presentations, Keynotes, and Industry Visit (19th December 2023)

Day 2 featured a packed schedule of paper presentations, keynotes, and an industrial visit. Attendees engaged in diverse topics during Paper Presentation Sessions 4 to 7, gaining exposure to cutting-edge research and innovations.

Keynote addresses by Prof. Parthasarathi Sensarma and Dr. Brij Singh explored Micro-inverters and the Value of Electrification in Heavy-Duty Vehicles, respectively. The day also included a stimulating industry visit to CDAC, providing participants with practical insights into advanced computing technologies.

Day 3: Online Paper Presentations and Closing Ceremony (20th December 2023)

The final day of the conference featured online paper presentations and a closing ceremony. Last keynote session by Prof. Frede Blaabjerg addressed the design aspects for reliability in power electronic systems, providing a thoughtful conclusion to the technical aspects of the conference.

The closing ceremony expressed gratitude to contributors, sponsors, and participants, acknowledging the success of PESGRE 2023 in achieving its goals of knowledge dissemination, collaboration, and innovation.
