Ericsson and Telstra world-first high speed capacity link to King Island
Telstra and Ericsson announced the completion of a major upgrade to King Island’s mobile network infrastructure, providing a significant boost in connectivity and achieving a world-first and close to tenfold capacity boost for the island’s community with the launch of Australia’s longest over-water microwave telecommunications link with a throughput capacity of 9.8 Gbps with 99.99 percent availability across 120 km. In this talk we hear from the main players of this project. They will tell us about the story of delivering 5G upgrades to King Island which required a significant uplift in bandwidth to this remote location. Also, we will hear about the challenges on spectrum and link availability to meet this increase in capacity.
