Flagship event - Third Late Shri. D. M. Tagare Memorial Lecture
The flagship event of PES IAS Chapter Third Late Shri D M Tagre memorial lecture was organized on Wednesday, 28th February 2024. In 2022, the PES-IAS Chapter initiated this Flagship Event - in memory of Late Shri, D.M. Tagare, a visionary person, honored as a Father of Capacitor industries in India. He was instrumental in launching various IEEE activities in the Pune Section. He pioneered the PES-IAS Chapter in Pune which was under Pune Subsection earlier and then included under IEEE Pune Section.

‘Importance of Power System Analysis for Electrical Safety’
This lecture covered the importance of Power System Analysis for Electrical Safety. Contents of the lecture: Most of the ‘Electrical Safety” in the field roams around 'Let through energy' I2t. Electrical systems need to be designed “Electrically safe” and yet “Cost-optimized”. This is possible only by adopting “Traditional Power system Analysis Techniques” which involve complex vector calculations. Statutory compliance for ensuring electrical safety in the Indian context is well documented however strict statutory control is not possible due to the HUGE NUMBER of consumers – Maharashtra alone has 2.5Cr consumers. The lecture discussed the relationship between power system analysis and electrical safety and also brought forward modern techniques to do this with speed.
