"Mitigating Resistance by Developing Rapport and Trust in Investigative Interviews"

Join GMU Criminal Investigations and Network Analysis (CINA)  on Tuesday, April 16 for the upcoming virtual CINA Distinguished Speaker Series event featuring Christian Meissner, Professor and Director of Graduate Education in the Department of Psychology at Iowa State University, as he discusses “Mitigating Resistance by Developing Rapport and Trust in Investigative Interviews.”

Speaker:

Christian A. Meissner, Ph.D.

Christian Meissner is Professor of Psychology at Iowa State University.  He holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive & Behavioral Science from Florida State University (2001) and conducts empirical studies in applied cognition, including the role of memory, attention, perception, and decision processes in real world tasks.  He has published more than 125 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and edited volumes, and has received more than $20 million in grant funding from such agencies as the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Departments of Defense, Justice, and Homeland Security, and the U.S. Intelligence Community.  From 2010 – 2012, he served as Program Director of Law & Social Sciences at the National Science Foundation.  Dr. Meissner is President-elect of the American Psychology-Law Society (Div. 41 of the APA), and a past President of the Society for Applied Research in Memory & Cognition.  He is an elected Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science, the American Psychological Association, and the Psychonomic Society.
