Biography:
Dr. R. Azhagumurugan is a distinguished figure in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, recognized for his exceptional contributions to academia, research, and industry. With over 21 years of teaching experience and 6 years in industry, Dr. Azhagumurugan has significantly impacted the field through his expertise in Applied Electronics.
As the Professor and Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Sri Sai Ram Engineering College, Chennai, India, Dr. Azhagumurugan leads with a focus on innovation and excellence. His areas of specialization include Applied Electronics, where he has delved into diverse fields such as Metamaterials, Electrical Machines, Electromagnetics, Electric Vehicles, Industrial Instrumentation, and Smart Technologies.
Throughout his career, Dr. Azhagumurugan has been actively engaged in research and has made substantial contributions through his publications and patents. He has presented numerous papers in esteemed international conferences and published extensively in international journals, particularly in IEEE Digital Library and IEEE Conferences. Notably, he has secured six patents, demonstrating his innovative prowess in advancing technology.
Dr. Azhagumurugan's professional engagements extend beyond academia, as evidenced by his active involvement in various professional memberships, including senior memberships in IEEE and leadership roles in several IEEE communities. He also serves as Treasurer for the IEEE Power and Energy Society Chapter MAS Section.
Driven by a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship, Dr. Azhagumurugan has founded AH Smart Power, a registered company under the MSME, Govt. of India, aimed at developing smart consumer products based on advanced microchips and cloud technologies. Additionally, he serves as Chairman and Chief Advisor for Genik Research Institute and has authored educational books in collaboration with SCERT, Tamil Nadu.
Dr. Azhagumurugan's contributions have been recognized through numerous honors and awards, including the Professional Achievement Award from the IEEE Madras section and the IGEN GREEN9 SDG AWARD 2020. He has also chaired prestigious international conferences and serves as an ambassador for IEEE initiatives, showcasing his leadership and commitment to advancing the field.
