WMED 2024, the 21st IEEE Workshop on Microelectronics, was held on March 29th at Boise State University. This event was organized by the IEEE-Boise Electron Devices Society chapter.

In addition to the outstanding technical program, the workshop once again included its very popular high school STEM outreach program. This program was attended by about 60 students. The program included a keynote talk by Janine Rush-Byers and Shawn Siddoway of Micron on meeting workforce demands for the AI revolution, a panel discussion where students could ask local technology professionals questions about STEM careers and schooling, a hands-on “Neural Network Kit” activity, lab tours, and a tour of the interactive Stein Luminary.

The high school program was made possible by numerous volunteers from Micron and Boise State University, including members of the IEEE Boise State University student branch. The IEEE-Boise section and IEEE Region 6 (Western US) provided financial support for this event.
