IEEE Innovation Nation Sri Lanka (INSL) is an island-wide competition held during Global Entrepreneurship Week to support young and enthusiastic innovators in the country. The event aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among students, providing them with a platform to showcase their ideas and talents. Through workshops and competitions, INSL encourages participants to develop their entrepreneurial skills, foster creativity, and engage with real-world challenges.

The first workshop of IEEE Innovation Nation Sri Lanka (INSL) Uva Province was conducted on 18th November 2023, featuring keynote sessions by industry experts. Mr. Kushan Wanniarachchi, CEO and founder of Artha Creations, delivered a session on "The Pitch Deck: Storytelling Fundamentals." Additionally, Mr. U. J. Prashadh Sirilal, founder and CEO of UJPS Academy, delivered a keynote session on "Finding the Why: Researching the Market and the Industry." The event drew participation from approximately 100 undergraduate members from the university, along with teams preparing for the INSL competitions.

Overall, the workshop served as a valuable learning opportunity for participants, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge to excel in the INSL competitions and beyond.

Led by keynote speaker Mr. Kushan Wanniarachchi, CEO and founder of Artha Creations, the 1.5-hour session emphasized the importance of delivering a successful pitch deck presentation.

Starting at 10:00 a.m., the session provided valuable insights on crafting and delivering compelling pitches to audiences, a skill essential for both idea and business stage participants of the INSL competition. The session was highly interactive, allowing participants to understand the key elements of a successful pitch and practice their presentation skills.

Participants learned how to structure their pitch decks effectively, engage their audience, and convey their ideas or projects persuasively. The session aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills to present their innovations confidently to judges and potential investors.

Overall, the session was a success, offering practical guidance and strategies that participants could apply immediately to enhance their pitch presentations.

Biography:

Mr. Kushan Wanniarachchi is a multifaceted professional with a diverse background in creative consultancy, photography, filmmaking, and training. He is the founder of Artha Creative, a boutique advertising agency that provides creative consultancy for digital media and marketing to clients in Sri Lanka and overseas.

In addition to his work in the advertising industry, Mr. Wanniarachchi is a freelance photographer and moviemaker, with a keen eye for capturing moments and telling stories through visual media. His photography work spans various genres, including weddings, commercial projects, and fashion editorials.

Mr. Wanniarachchi is also a certified master facilitator for the International Pedagogical ICT License (IPICT) and a certified facilitator for the Accelerated Skills Acquisition Program (ASAP) in Sri Lanka. With over 8 years of experience in the IT training industry, he has served as a lecturer and trainer, imparting knowledge and skills to students and professionals alike.

Furthermore, Mr. Wanniarachchi has extensive experience in soft skills development, having worked on government-affiliated and private sector projects. His training programs focus on enhancing communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, contributing to the personal and professional growth of his participants.
