OVERVIEW

A talk session on AVIONICS IN MODERN CIVIL AIRCRAFT was held by IEEE AP-S and MTT-S  SBC’s GEC Barton Hill in collaboration with IEEE AP-S and MTT-S SBC’s GEC Wayanad. The talk session was conducted online via google meet on 18th February,2024 from 6pm to 8 pm.The session was handled by Dr Russel Paul U S, Head of Workforce Competencies, Safran Aircraft Engines Ltd, Hyderabad. The Vice Chair of IEEE AP-S SBC GEC Barton Hill addressed the session and Arijit Mitra, scientist from ISRO, took over the platform and welcomed the speaker Dr Russel Paul. A total number of 152 participants were recorded in which 47 were IEEE members and the rest 105 were Non IEEE members.

The speaker explained the basics of avionics,why it's essential in an aircraft and its advancements in the industry. He proceeded to talk about the importance of automation in avionics and recent advancements including the features and structures of Airbus A380 and A350. He addressed the types of accidents with examples and how avionics is relevant in developing safety measures against them. He also mentioned the development of solid state power controllers and the role of avionics in air traffic control. At the end of the session, participants were asked to come forward with their queries and the session came to a completion after the Vice Chair of IEEE MTT-S SBC GEC Barton Hill addressed the vote of thanks to the speaker and the participants who had attended the session. The feedback form which was released after the session received a positive response marking the successful completion of the event.
