Legal Issues for Start-Up Companies and Entrepreneurs: An IntroductionHave you ever thought of starting your own robotics company? Or perhaps you would like to know if a company is following good practices? If so, you should join us (in person or via Zoom) for an introduction to legal issues for start-up companies.Drawing upon his thirty years in university research management, where he built and managed collaborations with entrepreneurs, start-ups, small to large companies, and global partners, James Casey will share those legal issues that start-up companies and entrepreneurs need to be aware of for success. This overview will also include mention of connected non-legal leading practices so that attendees will get the larger context for success. Ample time will be allowed at the end for Q&A and discussion.Pizza will be provided for in-person participants ($5 for professionals, free for students).The Zoom link will be sent to all registrants before the meeting.

Biography:
James Casey, Esq., CPP, is a San Antonio - based research contracts and data protection executive who has had an extensive career in university research management and administration. He currently consults for Florida State University, and has held pre - award to AVP positions at a number of universities, including Northwestern University and UTSA. He has extensive experience in building collaborations with private companies, including start - ups. He is also the academic community leader for the CUNY M.S. in Research Administration and Compliance Program, where he is also a founding adjunct associate professor.
James is a member of BioMedSA and the Government - University - Industry Research Roundtable (National Academies) in Washington, DC. He has also held volunteer leadership roles in NCURA, the American Bar Association, and the State Bar of Wisconsin, among others.
