Biography:

Dr. Mudassar Raza is currently an Associate Professor (Head of the program AI & Cyber security, and Incharge Graduate studies) at Department of Computer Science, HITEC University Taxila, Pakistan with an overall job experience (teaching + research) of more than 20 years at both graduate and undergraduate levels. Previously, he Served as Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Lecturer, and research associate positions at COMSATS University Islamabad, Wah Campus (CUI Wah) for more than 17 years. He did his Ph.D. in control science and engineering from University of Science and Technology of China, Anhui, Hefei, China (USTC) during which he remained a very active research member of fields related to Visual Robotics, Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition. He has more than 135 research publications in journals and conferences of international repute with cumulative impact factor 210+, more than 5080+ citations, H-index: 40 and i10-index 86. He was honored with “National Youth Award 2008” in the category of “Computer Science and Information Technology” by Prime Minister of Pakistan on International Youth Day, 12 August 2008. His areas of interest are image processing, deep learning, algorithm analysis, artificial intelligence, and parallel programming. He has so far supervised and co-supervised over 52 MS theses. Currently he is also supervising/supervised 8 PhD students (3 Thesis Defended, 5 theses in progress) and Co-supervising 2 PhD students. He has also supervised more than 100 R&D projects of undergraduate students. He is continuously being nominated for COMSATS Research Productivity Award for the last many years. He is IEEE Senior member as well as member of IEEE Young Professionals, IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Biometrics Council, and IEEE Systems Council. He has also performed the duty of PhD thesis as an internal and external (international) evaluator. He is academic editor and reviewer of several prestigious journals, conferences, and books. He is also being invited on regular basis from top universities and institutes of Pakistan as guest speaker on symposiums, workshops and conferences. Besides his research and R&D activities, he has vast experience in handling different academic issues and problems. He also remained active in handling the administrative tasks and completed them as well with success. Currently, he is fulfilling several academic and administrative tasks along with his teaching and research including Member CUI Wah Campus Departmental Quality Assurance Committee for Assessment of Online Courses - Phase II (Spring 2020), Member NCEAC online coordination committee, Domain Head (Logic Development & Programming, Web and mobile computing), Member/Secretary Admission Committee, CS department industry liaison focal person, Member department Industry Advisory Board, Member Image Processing Research Group, to name a few. He is also member documentation committee for BS(AI), MS(AI) and BS(ITS) accreditation and curriculum design. He is also a member of National Standards Committee (NSC), by Ministry of Science and Technology, GoP, Department focal person internships, HEC level 1 trainer for online teaching, Member curriculum development and curriculum committees at HITEC University Taxila.
