Dr Xi Lin of Powertech Labs Inc
Power System Dynamic Security Assessment – Practices, Challenges, and Trends
Biography:
Xi Lin received the bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Tsinghua University, China in 1997 and the master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Nanjing Automation Research Institute (NARI), China, in 2000. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Manitoba, Canada in 2011.
He has been with Powertech Labs Inc. in Surrey, Canada since 2007 and is currently the Director of the Engineering Services business unit at Powertech. Dr. Lin leads the technical teams in the development and commercialization of industry-leading power system analysis software tools, and in the provision of consultancy and investigation services to the power industry. Among his major technical contributions is the development of the on-line dynamic security assessment (DSA) technology, which is now licensed to more than 50 control centers worldwide, including the operators of some of the largest grids in the world such as BC Hydro, ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, and National Grid UK.
Xi is an IEEE Senior Member.
