Three-Day National Workshop on Recent Advancements in Semiconductor Devices-2024 (NWRASD-2024) 


The primary aim of this Workshop on Recent Advancements in Semiconductor Devices (NWRASD) is to facilitate the enhancement of technical education standards across the nation while aiding technical institutions in promoting research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in emerging scientific fields. Specifically, the NWRASD seeks to provide comprehensive insights into semiconductor devices and disseminate knowledge about the latest advancements within the research community. The workshop will help the participants identify the problems and find solutions for the fundamental aspects to minimize the research gap existing in this domain. 

 This workshop is beneficial for faculty members, scientists, industrial professionals, doctoral fellows, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate and undergraduate students, etc. Topics to be covered in the workshop are, nanoscience and nanotechnology; modeling of semiconductor devices, simulation and modeling of microelectronic devices, etc.

Biography:

Dr. Mukesh Kumar is a Professor at Electrical Engineering, IIT Indore, 2022–present. He have completed his PhD from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, 2009 and M.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, 2004. Post Doctoral Research Fellow, Precision and Intelligence Laboratory, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, 2009–2010. In Optoelectronic Nanodevice Research Laboratory (OPTO NANO GROUP), led by Dr. Mukesh Kumar in Department of Electrical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore, we have been working on Optoelectronic Devices, Nanoelectronics, Integrated Photonics, and Nanofabrication. OPTO NANO GROUP is actively involved in the design and fabrication of a number of on-chip devices and functionalities for optical communication, interconnects, computing, bio-chemical sensing, and memory applications.

Brain-inspired and in-memory computing are two cutting-edge fields aiming to revolutionize the way we process and store information by mimicking the structure and function of the human brain. Here’s an overview of these concepts, their key components, and some of the devices and architectures involved.

Biography:

Currently working as a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering,  served as founding Project Director of Technology Innovation Hub “Vishlesan i-Hub Foundation” a section-8 company, and Ex-Associate Dean Research and Development at IIT Patna. I received Ph.D. degree from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Bristol, UK. My research interest includes devices and circuits for future neuromorphic computing, low power integrated circuits, embedded systems, and hardware security. I holds two US patents related to computer semiconductor memories and recipient of a prestigious Indo-US fellowship BHAVAN 2016. Dr Singh has 50+ international journal (IEEE/IET) publications, 50+ conference publications, two book chapters and one full book from Springer, Germany. He was the visiting researcher at the Pennsylvania State University, USA, 2009, and the University of North Texas, USA, 2016, each for six months. Dr Singh is a Senior Member IEEE, Editor of IETE Technical Review, and served as Associate Editor of IET Electronics Letters and IEEE VLSI Circuits and Systems Letter. Dr Singh has supervised nine PhDs and 40 M.Tech dissertations, and six PhDs are ongoing.

Biography:

Dr. Jaya Madan is presently associated as Assistant Professor (Research) at CURIN department of Chitkara University, Punjab, India. She received her doctorate (PhD) degree in 2018 from Applied Physics Department, Microelectronics Research Laboratory, Delhi Technological University
(DTU) New Delhi. Her doctoral research involves modeling, design and simulation analysis of Gate All Around Tunnel FET For High Performance Analog and RF Applications. Her other areas of interests and activities cover designing and simulation of solar cells, including tandem solar cells, PERC solar cell, perovskite solar cells. She has authored or co-authored more than 230 papers in various reputed international and national journals and conferences. She has been awarded the PREMIER RESEARCH AWARD in 2018 and COMMENDABLE RESEARCH AWARD for excellence in research, Delhi Technological University, 2019. Her name has also been Listed in list of World's Top 2% scientists in 2023 as well as 2022. Further, she is reviewer of various journals of international repute.

Colloidal quantum dots-based photodetectors offer significant advantages in terms of spectral tunability, sensitivity, and flexibility. Biography:

Prof. S. Jit has earned his B.E., M.Tech. and Ph.D. degrees from the IIEST Shibpore (formerly BE College affiliated to the University of Calcutta), West Bengal, in 1993; Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India, in 1995; and Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) (formerly IT-BHU)), Varanasi, India, in 2002, respectively. He has worked as a lecturer at the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of the G.B. Pant Institute of Engineering and Technology (formerly G.B.Pant Engineering College), Pauri-Garhwal, during June 1995-April 1998. He joined the  Department of Electronics Engineering, IIT (BHU), Varanasi, as Lecturer in April 1998, where he has been working as Professor since June 05, 2010 and as a professor on the HAG scale since June 5, 2016. Prof. Jit has served as the Coordinator/Director, Computer Center, BHU, from February 2012 to March 2014 and  Head, Department of Electronics Engineering, IIT (BHU), Varanasi, during April 8, 2015, to May 8, 2018. He has also served as the Chairperson, Senate Post Graduate Committee (SPGC) of the IIT (BHU) for the 2013–14 and 2014–15 academic sessions. He has also served as a Member of the Board of Governors of the HBTI, Kanpur and UPTTI Kanpur for a period of 3 years each.

Dr. Haranath Ghosh, obtained his Master’s degree from Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal and PhD from the Institute of Physics Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Dr. Ghosh is a well-known condensed matter theoretical physicist who has worked on various aspects of condensed matter physics starting from model studies to first principles ab initio studies. He is currently working at RRCAT, Indore. His research interest and contributions include density waves in solids, correlated electron systems, π-conjugated polymers, superconductivity & magnetism. Before joining to RRCAT Dr.Ghosh visited various universities and research centers in the capacity of post-doctoral fellow and guest scientist. He has worked at the Department of Physics, University of Arizona, USA; Max-PlanckInstitute for Complex System, Dresden, Germany; University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany; Instituto de Fisica, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the National Institute of Material sciences (NIMS), Tsukuba, Japan to name a few. He was also visiting professor at the National Centre for Theoretical Sciences, Hsinchu, Taiwan and at the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. He has published around 100 research articles in various national & international journals. He is a reviewer of many international journals and the editorial board member of the American Journal of Physics and Applications.

Currently, Dr. Chithraja Rajan is working as Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at Ramdeobaba University Nagpur. She completed her Ph.D. in Micro and Nano electronics at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design, and Manufacturing, Jabalpur under the guidance of Dr. Dip Prakash Samajdar. In her doctoral work, she had investigated various III-V material-based Tunnel FET for low power applications such as mixed-circuits, hardware security, and biosensor applications. Currently, she is incorporating machine learning approach for the optimization of semiconductor device characteristics and their circuit applications. She has published numerous articles in prestigious national and international publications and conferences such as IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, and others. She was the recipient of Visvesvaraya Ph.D. fellowship. I am also a member of various technical societies such as IEEE, Optica, etc.
