WIEHack 5.0, organized by IEEE BVCOE under the ECE department, marked the fifth successful iteration of our flagship event, spanning 36 hours as a women-centric hybrid international hackathon held on April 22nd and 23rd. With 1800 registrations pouring in from 31 Countries worldwide, including countries such as India, Kenya, Peru, Pakistan, Colombia, Tunisia, Jordan, the United States, Egypt, Uganda, Brazil, Canada, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Morocco, Tanzania, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Zambia, Mexico, Turkey, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Paraguay, and Nigeria, WIEHack 5.0 exemplified global collaboration and innovation.

Operated in a hybrid mode, the hackathon offered participants the choice to engage either online or offline from our college premises. The event commenced at 7 am on April 22nd with registration, swiftly followed by an inaugural ceremony attended by esteemed chief guests, Dr. Shyam Sunder Patnaik, Er. Dolly Bhasin, Prof. Dharmender Saini, Prof. Kirti Gupta, Dr. Monica Bhutani, and various esteemed faculty members. Following this, participants delved into four rigorous rounds: abstract, prototyping and presentation, business plan, and final presentation. These rounds, meticulously designed as elimination stages, ran concurrently for both online and offline teams, culminating in the selection of the top 9 teams (5 from offline and 4 from online) from an initial pool of 701 teams overall. The event concluded around 10 pm on the 23rd, solidifying its status as the longest Non Stop IEEE activity.

With 8 online mentors, 11 offline mentors, and 4 judges, our participants had constant support and guidance during the event. Even after the hackathon, our mentors and judges stayed connected with the participants, offering ongoing encouragement as they developed their projects further.Ultimately, Team Streamline from DSCE, Bengaluru, emerged victorious, securing the first prize as online participants. Team 4 Bit from our Physical venue, BVCOE, New Delhi, claimed the second prize, while Team Iced Tea from Christ University, Bangalore, with an international participant joining from the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wurzburg-Schweinfurt, Germany, clinched the third prize.

WIEHack 5.0 garnered widespread acclaim across various social media platforms, with over 15,000 views on Instagram and 36,400 views on the YouTube stream. Featuring a substantial prize pool of $502,000, including Rs.30,000 in cash prizes and an array of exclusive goodies and vouchers from esteemed partners such as Young Skill India, Interview Buddy, Interview Cake, Google WTM, Edcreate Foundation Beecepator, Cisco Networking Academy, and Azure XYZ, the event underscored the significance of teamwork and innovation in addressing contemporary challenges.

In summary, WIEHack 5.0 epitomized excellence, collaboration, and inclusivity, leaving an indelible mark on all participants and stakeholders involved, representing a truly global endeavor.
