This lecture discussed about the challenges of woman in leadership roles. 

The speaker feels “Talking about women empowerment is just an eyewash”.  Women need to believe that they are already whole and complete and do not need some else to empower them. As women leaders, they need to be emotionally regulated and ready to be a life-long learner. They need to support their tribe and lead by example.

Biography:

Dr. Monica Nagpal is a renowned mindfulness and meditation coach, NLP practitioner, certified hypnotherapist, author with  25 years of overall experience. She got her Ph.D. degree in education from Osmania university, in 1998. She has been a Practitioner, Hypnotherapy/Hypnotherapist of California Hypnosis Institute of Delhi. She did her certificate course in  Counseling Psychology and stress management from Royale institution. Through her platform, HopeandHappiness, she has dedicated her life to empowering women and children to unlock their inner potential. Through her " Inner peace academy " she is enabling individuals to create a blue print of sustainable happiness and success. One of her  most impactful projects is PAUSE TALK, a transformative video podcast. In her latest endeavor, BUNIYAAD, Dr. Monica is laying the foundation for sustainable living and fostering awareness about the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Dr M V Krishna Rao of Institute of Aeronautical Engineering

This lecture discussed about the identity of woman as an individual living being, before she takes different family roles in her personal life and different official roles in professional life. The speaker strongly opposes the concept of work balance recommended for woman engineers by some woman leaders on different forums, especially in some Faculty Development Programs (FDPs). The balancing the work at home and office is equally applicable for both man and woman engineer. Thus, it is not at all an issue to be discussed under woman empowerment.

Biography:

Dr M V Krishna Rao is an Electronics & Communications Engineer with 37 years of professional experience: 24 years in PRODUCT R & D and 13 years in FULL-TIME TEACHING. In industry, he worked as SCIENTIST, GENERAL MANAGER (R&D), and TECHNICAL DIRECTOR. In academics, he worked as PRINCIPAL, DEAN, HOD and PROFESSOR. Dr Krishna Rao received his B.Tech. (ECE) degree from JNT University, Kakinada in 1983, M.Tech. from IIT, Kharagpur in 1987 and Ph.D. degree from the Osmania University, Hyderabad in 2001. He has Hands-on Design Experience of about 20+ Hardware Product Prototypes and 15+ Software Products in the area of Consumer electronics, Telephony Terminal Equipment, Transaction Automation, Radar Seeker, Radio Altimeter and Tactical Air Navigation Receiver. He executed funded R&D projects in the areas of Radar Systems, Image Processing, Speech Processing, Communications and Missile Terminal Guidance for DRDO, DOE, HAL, ISRO, UGC, and Private Industry. He has 120+ Technical Reports, Design Documents, Product Manuals and a handful of Research Papers to his credit. He taught 40 different subjects in the areas of Electronics & Communications  and Data Science. He delivered 80+ Guest lectures at Workshops/FDPs/Symposia/Seminars and organized 15 such technical events. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, Life Fellow of IETE, a Life member of ISTE, Acoustic Society of India, Computer Society of India, and South Indian Cultural Association (SICA). He was an active volunteer of IEEE and IETE for 15 years. He is currently with Institute of Aeronautical Engineering as professor in CSE (Data Science) department, Institute of Aeronautical Engineering. His research areas include Data Science and Analytics, Machine Learning and Deep Learning, Speech/Audio Processing, Image/Video Processing and Radar Signal processing. He is currently the Counselor, IEEE Student Branch of Institute of Aeronautical Engineering, STB11695.
