Research Topics on RF Radiation and Propagation
Several research topics studied in the Antenna Laboratory at POSTECH for 30 years are introduced and briefly described. A unit cell of a metamaterial is designed and analyzed, and its propagation and attenuation constants are derived. Negative permittivity is observed for a narrow frequency band. A magic Tee is designed on a planar microstrip line combined with a slot coupling structure. A helical RFID structure is designed to identify a steel plate sandwiched between larger steel plates. Equivalent dipole current and loop current for the leaky noise radiation from an LSI chip are derived from measurement using a TEM cell. The Yun’s formula is established to calculate the resonance frequency of a coil for wireless power transfer. An equivalent circuit of a 3-port microstrip tee is developed accommodating the radiation loss from the tee.
