FIRST Robotics (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a robotics competition for pre-college students. 

Their robotics competition is similar to IEEE Student Robotics Competition. The teams are given a a challenge for a robot and a part of kits. They design and test their robots. There are competitions at multiple levels.

Chris Cortez is the FRC Program Delivery Partner for FIRST South Carolina, leveraging his experience in STEM education and his passion for FIRST to grow FRC programs across the state. An alumnus of the program himself, Chris understands the transformative power of robotics competitions for young minds.

 

As Program Delivery Partner, Chris oversees FRC team implementation and support, ensuring they have the resources to thrive. He fosters a collaborative environment among mentors, sponsors, and volunteers to create a strong and inclusive robotics community. Under his leadership, South Carolina has seen a rise in student participation and engagement in STEM, inspiring future generations of innovators.

Chris's dedication extends beyond South Carolina. He actively volunteers in various FIRST roles nationwide, demonstrating his national commitment to the organization's mission. His advocacy for STEM education and its impact on young people is fueled by his vision for expanding FIRST's reach.

 

Through hands-on robotics competitions, Chris equips students with essential skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity.
