One Day Online Workshop: Flood-Prone Riverine Ecosystem Management in Assam
Speakers: Prof. Anamika Barua (IIT Guwahati), Prof. Pijush Kumat Dutta (Azim Premji University), Prof. Rathin Barman (Wildlife Trust of India), Prof. Sumit Sen (IIT Roorkee)
Assam, characterized by its intricate network of rivers, is prone to annual flooding that leads to extensive damage to lives, property, and the environment. Leveraging Earth Observation (EO) insights is crucial to mitigate these challenges. The workshop will bridge the gap between EO technology and practical applications in the context of Assam's unique riverine ecosystem.
This workshop welcomes researchers, policymakers, environmentalists, and practitioners engaged in flood management and ecosystem preservation in Assam. Participants will gain practical knowledge and skills to harness EO data effectively for flood-prone riverine ecosystem management. They will be better equipped to contribute to sustainable practices, disaster resilience, and informed decision-making in Assam's unique context.
Through this workshop, we aspire to empower stakeholders to make informed decisions, enhance the resilience of riverine ecosystems, and ultimately reduce the impact of annual floods on the people and environment of Assam.
