5G Satellite Communications and Navigation Research for an Era of Competition
Abstract: As space becomes increasingly contested, competitive and congested, the US Space Force is moving toward a more hybrid and resilient space architecture. AFRL is at the forefront of maturing space technology, discovering the art of the possible, and exploring trade space requirements that will enable this new architecture.
Dr. Pham will discuss AFRL's three strategic pillars: mission focus, foundation building, and succeeding through teamwork and how they support this new vision.
Bio: Dr. Khanh Pham is a supervisory principal aerospace engineer at the Air Force Research Laboratory-Space Vehicles Directorate at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico and a Research Professor at the University of New Mexico Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is responsible for developing mission-driven architectures and defining nontraditional solutions that are open, interoperable, and resilient to address military operational challenges in alternative positioning, navigation, and timing; assured satellite communications; space control autonomy; space domain awareness; and missile defense applications.
