'MazeMaster 2025' was an engaging event designed to nurture innovation and problem-solving skills among undergraduate students from local universities. Participants had the opportunity to design and build robots capable of autonomously navigating a maze. The competition comprised multiple stages, including an online introductory session, a discussion on robot design, and the main maze-solving event. This event served as a platform for participants to showcase their technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork. A panel of expert judges evaluated the competition based on declared criteria.

Online Introductory Session: The competition commenced with an online introductory session hosted by the organizing committee. Participants were briefed on the competition rules, guidelines, and technical requirements.

Discussion on Robot Design: Following the introductory session, a discussion on robot design was conducted, providing insights into key problem-solving approaches and technical aspects essential for building autonomous maze-navigating robots.

Maze-Solving Event: The main event of the competition was the maze-solving challenge, where participants’ designed robots autonomously navigated a predefined maze. The maze featured twists, turns, dead ends, and obstacles, creating a challenging environment for the robots to navigate.

Mr. Kulunu Chakshana Weerasoory delivered an insightful speech on IEEE National Projects and National Volunteering, shedding light on the various opportunities available for students and professionals. He discussed funding programs, explaining how to secure financial support for projects, and provided guidance on joining national initiatives. His speech emphasized the significance of collaboration, innovation, and the broader impact of these projects.

Additionally, he highlighted the joys and benefits of volunteering, encouraging active participation in IEEE initiatives. He spoke about how volunteering fosters leadership, networking, and personal growth, inspiring attendees to engage in meaningful contributions.

Mr. Weerasoory also shared a few words on the MazeMaster project, appreciating its efforts and impact. His speech served as motivation for aspiring volunteers and project contributors to take an active role in IEEE-led initiatives, driving technological and national progress.

Biography:

Mr. Kulunu Chakshana Weerasoory is a passionate innovator and engineer specializing in mechanical engineering, with a keen focus on motorsport and automobile performance enhancement. Driven by a relentless pursuit of knowledge, he actively researches the adaptability of core engineering principles to improve vehicle performance. Beyond his technical expertise, he finds fulfillment in volunteering, dedicating himself to causes that contribute to the betterment of humanity and the world around him.

Currently pursuing a PhD in Biomechanics, Mr. Weerasoory is a dedicated IEEE volunteer, playing a pivotal role in various leadership capacities. He serves as the Vice Chair (Chair Elect) of IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka (2025-Present), guiding young engineers and professionals in their career growth. His contributions extend to the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Sri Lanka, where he has been the Student and Young Professionals Coordinator since December 2023.

Previously, he held the position of Treasurer at IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka (2024-2025), where he showcased his proficiency in financial analysis and accounting. His leadership also extends to IEEE Region 10, where he serves as the Lead Coordinator for Technical Activities within the Student Activities Committee (2024-2025), furthering engagement and innovation in the region.

In addition, Mr. Weerasoory has contributed significantly to IEEE Sri Lanka Section initiatives, having served as the Student Representative (2023-2024) and Vice Chair for Membership Development within the Student Activities Committee (2022-2023). Throughout his tenure, he has demonstrated exceptional skills in teamwork, communication, leadership, and project management.

With a deep passion for both engineering and community service, Mr. Kulunu Chakshana Weerasoory continues to inspire young professionals and students, leaving a lasting impact on both the technical and volunteering landscapes.
