Leaky-Wave Antenna (LWA) is a beam-scanning antenna that plays a crucial role in modern wireless communication, satellite communication, navigation systems, and autonomous drive. In this talk we will discuss the fundamentals of the LWA, its applications, and comparison with phased array antennas.

Nima Javanbakht
Biography:
Nima Javanbakht (Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran, in 2013 and 2016, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Carleton University, Ottawa, ON, Canada, in 2021. Nima is a senior RF engineer with Sanmina Corporation and adjunct professor at Carleton university since 2021. He was a Research Intern with the National Research Council Canada and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Department of Electronics, Carleton University, in 2020 and 2021, respectively. Nima is also the chair of IEEE Young Professionals Ottawa, and IEEE R7 YP representative in MTTS and ComSoc societies. He has authored more than 40 technical papers in journals and conference proceedings. His research interests include the analysis and design of leaky-wave antennas, reconfigurable antennas, scalable RF circuits and antennas, embedded RF modules, flexible microwave sensors, frequency synthesizer, and mm-wave communication devices.
