Abstract: In 2015 NXP partnered with Arrow Electronics to develop an inertial sensor system for the SAM car, which is a modified Corvette that enables a quadriplegic to drive using only his head. This presentation explains the challenges encountered and how they were overcome to use wireless attached MEMS sensors to accurately track the driver’s head movements in a moving car and convert those head movements into car control commands for precise control of the vehicle.”
