IEEE Women in Engineering was formally established on 29 June 1997 and since then WIE has proudly supported an ever-growing community of women in STEM2024 and taken steps to promote change in the industry. We are excited for our 2024 IEEE WIE Day celebrations to begin on 23 June to coincide with ‘International Women in Engineering Day.

Working in Academia as an International Woman

Biography:

Dr. Shreya Pare is a highly skilled engineering professional holding a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Presently, she serves as a casual lecturer for Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) at the University of Technology Sydney, where she has taught various subjects within the School of Computer Science. Her areas of instruction include programming, databases, data analytics, and cybersecurity. Dr. Pare's expansive research interests encompass the utilization of artificial intelligence and computer vision techniques for image analysis. Furthermore, she has been actively involved in reviewing submissions for international journals and conferences related to data science, and has authored more than 20 impactful, peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Pallavi Bharadwaj of Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar

Topic:

Battery Digital Twin for Performance Optimization

Biography:

Dr. Pallavi Bharadwaj is an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar. She has previously served as a Faculty in Aalborg University, Denmark. She completed her Postdoctoral Research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA in 2021 after receiving her Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, India in 2019. Pallavi is a Gold Medalist for her industrial training and has received several awards including POSOCO Power System Award, Bhaskara Advanced Solar Energy Indo-US fellowship and serves in several National and International Technical Committees since 2017. She is very passionate about sustainability and strives towards engineering optimized solutions for global energy needs. Her research interests broadly include design and control of renewable power conversion systems; modelling and optimization of energy storage solutions; physics inspired AI for smart power electronics towards net zero transition.

Dr. Indu Joshi of IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh

Generalizable and Safe Deep Models

Biography:

Dr. Indu Joshi is currently working as an Assistant Professor with School of Computing and Electrical Engineering at IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Dr. Indu Joshi has received PhD from IIT Delhi and also completed her Master of Technology from NIT Delhi. She was a postdoctoral researcher at Inria Sophia Antipolis, France and Technical University of Munich, Germany. She is an INAE student member and a Raman-Charpak Fellow. She has represented India at BRICS Young Scientist Conclave and has also attended the Heidelberg Laureate Forum. She has also been awarded for her popular science writing skills by the science and technology minister of India. She is a DAAD-Post Doc Net-AI fellow and a recipient of the Institute silver medal by the President of India for her M.Tech. Degree.

Dr. Kamakshi Manjari of Siemens Energy India Limited

Opportunities for women in industries

Biography:

Dr. Kamakshi Manjari is a currently working at Siemens Energy India Limited as a digitalization consultant since July 2022. Her role involves taking part in developing machine learning solution for power plant performance optimization. In her role at Siemens Energy India, Kamakshi leverages her expertise to develop digital solutions that contribute to sustainable energy practices by improving performance hence reducing coal use. Dr. Kamakshi’s journey in the digitalization realm is marked by her commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. She holds a PhD degree in Electronics & Electrical Engineering from IIT Guwahati, where she developed a strong foundation in Control system application. Her academic background, combined with her practical experience, enables her to approach challenges with a well-rounded and innovative perspective. She is an alumna of IIIT- Bhubaneswar of 2013 batch in EEE department

Dr. Geet Sahu of Siksha 'O' Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar

Exploring AI and its applications

Biography:

Geet Sahu received the Ph.D. degree in computer science and engineering from PDPM Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing Jabalpur, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India, in 2023. She is currently an Assistant Professor with the Computer Science and Engineering Department, Siksha 'O' Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, India. She has authored or coauthored several journals and conferences in the area of computer vision, deep learning, and biomedical signal analysis.
