Last Call - Pikes Peak Section Elegant Dinner Meeting at the Jewett Mansion
You and our spouse or partner are invited to a special event on the evening of July 16. Pikes Peak is holding this special Dinner buffet catered by Paravicini Bistro, considered by some as the best Italian in Colorado Springs, at the elegantly restored 1905 Jewett Mansion in the historic North End neighborhood. Enjoy Penne Pomodoro, Rigatoni Carbonara, Chicken Parmigiana, and Meatballs along with Cannoli and Tiramisu. Tour the beautifully restored building that is now called The Peel House at First Lutheran.
If you have achieved 10-years of accomplishments in our profession, you are in luck. Our special guest speaker in IEEE Distinguished Lecturer, James Mercier all the way from Central Texas Section (Austin). He will tell us why you should become a Senior member and join the inner circle of engineers and technologist of the IEEE. We will have a Senior Upgrade Panel available to meet with you after the talk to help you quickly complete the on-line forms and get the required nomination and technical endorsements. The results will be your Senior Membership and the plaque to commemorates your accomplishment.
Please come early to network and socialize with others from Section. Dinner is served at 6:30 pm.

James Mercier, PE
IEEE Central Texas Section Treasurer & Senior Upgrade Coordinator
As Senior Upgrade Coordinator for the IEEE Central Texas Section, Jim is experienced in both
helping setup a Senior Upgrade program for his section and guiding Section members through
the process of becoming a IEEE Senior Member. Come hear why your should upgrade to Se-
nior Membership. Prior to this meeting, the Pikes Peak will establish a Senior Upgrade panel
so that prospective new Senior Members can come prepared to start the Senior Upgrade
process following this meeting.
Biography:
James Mercier is a professional engineer in Texas and Ohio and a Texas licensed Master Elec-
trician. He is a American Society of Civil Engineers Life Member and IEEE Life Senior Member.
He served in the Air Force, did a four-year Apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of
Electrical Workers becoming a Journeyman Wireman. He was trained in industrial and com-
mercial wiring. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with BS in Civil Engineering and
worked as an Environmental Engineer in the private sector. He was hired by the Texas De-
partment of Transportation (TxDOT) where he worked in the Roadway Illumination and Traffic
Signals Division. He later worked in the TxDOT Bridge Division Hydraulics specialized in river
and stream flows through culverts and bridges where he used his electrical experience to de-
sign a collapse detection and motorist warning system for a bridge in south Texas. He retired
in 2015 and concentrates on serving the IEEE as a volunteer.
